Dell EMC Elect 2017: the list

Dell EMC Elect

It’s been a while since my last post and there’s no good reason why I didn’t post this earlier, except that life’s been very very busy for me lately. But then again, so it is for all of us, right?

Anyway, last week, on March 29 to be precise, the judging was over and we presented the new list of Elect members. After the merger of Dell Rockstar and EMC Elect, we had to come up with a new program that would combine both groups and form a representative list of professionals who share their passion for the Dell EMC enterprise environment. Being a part of the founders, again, me and the other founders discussed the name of the new group and how we would judge the nominees. I wrote a post on that a little while ago actually. This new advocacy program will be know as the

The king is dead, long live the king: Dell EMC Elect is born!

Dell EMC Elect

Now that Dell and EMC have merged, both advocacy programs have ended as well. No more Dell Rockstar and EMC Elect, but a brand “new” program has emerged!!

As an EMC Elect founder I loved being part of the EMC Elect from the very beginning in Q4 of 2012, but times are changing and a new era has started: I guess that’s how life changes as well and this time it was a good change! The advocacy program we’ve all been proud of, whether that was the Dell Rockstar or the EMC Elect, was booming! I can only speak of the Elect and being able to talk to people about it, as a real advocate should be doing, was great.

Announcing the EMC Elect 2016!

EMC Elect 2016

Another year has past and what a great year it was. A lot has happened, both personal and work related. The whole Dell / EMC merger made many think about the future once again and I must say it’s going to be an interesting year. I’m very much looking forward to EMC World, this May, as Michael Dell, Dave Goulden and Joe Tucci will make their appearance in the opening keynote. I think that I’ll be present in the big hall for once, even though the EMC Elect lounge has proven to be a wonderful and relaxed place to experience the keynote. And yes, that’s just one of the advantages of being EMC Elect: you’ll get to enter the realms of this small and privileged group of people.

On the EMC Community Network (aka ECN) you will find the latest and complete list of the EMC Elect 2016.

Thank you EMC, for making me part of this group again!!

Top Blog websites Survey 2015

top vblog 2015

Vote for you favorite blog website!

Every year vSphere-land has a contest. You can vote for the top 50 VMware- and virtualization-related blogs of 2015. The blogs you can vote on are listed on vLaunchPad. Since about 2 or 3 years my website is listed there as well and so the idea is to vote on my website, so I end up in that top 50. This top 50 gets some extra attention, because these sites end highlighted and probably will attract some extra hits and that’s why we do this, right? –> extra hits!

My blog is listed on vLaunchPad so my site can be voted on! Again. In total about 400 blogs are in this list, so choose wisely, since all sites are probably worth reading.

How do I vote?

Visit the voting site and vote on me! But voting on 9 others is fair too, I guess. Let’s make sure www.50mu.net get in that precious top 50!

Cisco anounces their Data center Champions for 2014

Cisco Data center Champions 2014

Just like other big IT names like VMware with their vExpert, Microsoft with their MVP and since last year EMC with their Elect, now Cisco started their own community appreciation program called Cisco Champions. I want to focus on Data center Champions in particular since that’s the business I’m in myself. I’m not (much) into Cisco Data center networking technologies myself (yet), other than SAN related Fibre Channel equipment, but I’d like to dedicate this post to the start of this new community appreciation program nevertheless. The “community” is all that matters these days, right? Sharing knowledge to enhance the community “brain” as a whole. Being part of the 10 original founders of the EMC Elect I know how important proper communication can be for new programs like this and since Amy Lewis was kind enough to invite Allen Ward, Sergey Kamenetskiy and myself to shine in one of the “Engineers Unplugged” series in May 2013 in Las Vegas during EMC World, I thought, let’s return the favor and promote the Cisco Champions a bit, hoping for more collaboration and improvement of the awareness that even though social networking is some way of “virtual presence to people you might not even know”,  if your network is large enough it can also be seen as your online think-tank.
